Responsibilities:
Staff FW Engineer, Vehicle Engineering
This is a key position in a fast paced, rapidly growing business with significant responsibility and opportunity for career growth.- Act as an engineer for CalAmp vehicle telematics design team in building sub-systems and modules for interfacing with vehicle on-board diagnostics as part of the overall Vehicle Network Architecture
- Leverage embedded processing subsystems to interrogate and assert specific parameters available via the CAN OBD-II interface
- Build customized test platforms based on available vector scan toolsets
- Assist in securing and maintaining documentation on vehicle ECUs and other systems for internal analysis.
- Apply latest technology to obtaining best in class vehicle telematics parametric coverage for value added fleet services
- Build custom automated tools to certify vehicle types against target parameters in a production like environment. Work to meet aggressive time requirements necessary for a high velocity process.
- Work with software engineering to build a comprehensive certification database which captures latest test status and can provide immediate vehicle library status to internal customers.
Mentor engineers and technicians on vehicle test methods, diagnostics, validation, reverse engineering, and data processing.
Qualifications:
Must Haves- BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, MS Preferred
- 8+ years acting as a design engineer in a large, multi-discipline R&D department
- 5+ years’ experience in automotive electrical sub-system architecture, design, validation and volume production.
- 5+ years’ experience with Vehicle Network Architecture (CAN and LIN) protocols, synthesis, troubleshooting, debugging, and root cause analysis.
- Proficient with electronics lab equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic and signal analyzers, and communications analyzers.
- Understanding of Automotive power distribution systems and architecture
- Knowledge of Embedded Software modules for Diagnostics, CAN Communication, ECU, TCU and ABS, and experience in UDS Unified diagnostic services and Key Word Protocols
- Expertise in vehicle communication sub-systems, electrical schematics and wire harnesses.
- 5 + years’ experience with design and development of electric and hybrid vehicle sub-systems
- Has designed or is highly proficient in using smart system development and vector tools CANoe, CANalyzer, CANgraph, CANdito, BUSMASTER, SCUProg, INCA, and Vector Logger GL1000.Extensive experience with FMEA,DVP&R and ASPICE product development and compliance testing.
- Knowledge of LabWindows/LabView, C/C++, Java or other software languages for custom test automation or protocol synthesis/analysis is highly desirable.
