JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • The Senior Research Protocol Analyst for the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), manages the IACUC protocol post approval process including risk assessments, post approval monitoring visits, and attestations of responsibilities for animal handlers and Principal Investigators.
  • Supports the overall site inspections process: prepares for in person site inspections, manages the reports and findings, verifies required research protocol staff training, and the completeness of all other required materials including by not limited to Environmental Health and Safety documentation.
  • May oversee the routing of protocol through the electronic protocol submission software and monitor the progress of the submission at all steps through approval.
  • Provides training and assistance to new users in the software system.
  • Provides oversight to defined aspects of the IACUC function such as Post-Approval Monitoring, Semi-annual Site Inspections, Program Review and investigation of noncompliance events.
  • Works actively with the IACUC, the Animal Program staff and the research community to foster collaborative interactions and manage the investigative process of animal welfare concerns following IACUC policies and process maps.
  • May assist in the development and expansion of educational and training programs designed to increase compliance and foster a collaborative relationship with the research community.
  • Generates internal reports and metrics tracking for efficiency and process completion within defined areas of responsibility.
  • Assists in the development and refinement of operational policies and procedures to increase efficiency and decrease administrative burden for both the IACUC and the research community.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree and four years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State and Local regulations regarding animal welfare and the use of animals in research is required.
  • CPIA certification and/or experience working with USDA covered species and experience in an academic environment preferred.

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
