The Manager, Clinical Operations for Emergency Psychiatric Services, in partnership with the Medical Director(s), is responsible for the operations at the EPS units in the southern region. The leader models behaviors that promote patient safety and patient/family satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

A day in the life of a Manager, Clinical Operations for Emergency Psychiatric Services at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  1. Supports Clinical Program Managers in ensuring all rules and regulations, including NJ DMHAS regulations regarding emergency psychiatric services and The Joint Commission regulations.
  2. Responsible for state contracting requirements.
  3. Collaborates with HMH legal and finance departments to ensure all contract documents, budgets and expense reports are completed and submitted per deadlines.
  4. Collaborates with Talent Acquisition/Compensation to maintain appropriate staffing levels
  5. Reviews and develops program policies and procedures. Oversees harmonization of policies.
  6. Maintains current knowledge of state/government regulatory standards and requirements. Maintains knowledge of standards in guiding all aspects of patient care.
  7. Partners with the Medical Director(s) to ensure quality and safety standards are met at all times.
  8. Works with BH leadership to maximize throughput and decrease wait times
  9. Work with outpatient locations including urgent care to streamline referral processes/continuity of care
  10. Works with BH leadership on alternative staffing models including tele-health for clinician assessments and shared staffing among units
  11. Participate in the development of new EPS units at RMC and JSUMC (pedi)
  12. Lead efforts in meeting requirements regarding commitment law
  13. Provides solution focused response to programmatic and team member concerns.
  14. Work with OPE on grievances to improve patient experience and quality of care
  15. Coordinates program development aspect of the strategic planning process in conjunction w/senior management team. Seeks opportunities for strategic growth. Promotes and builds alliances with campus and CTS management: Maintains Involvement in campus specific initiatives.
  16. Participates in and promotes performance improvement activities. Involved in accreditation and licensing prep in conjunction with the clinical program managers and senior management team.
  17. Participates in academic training programs as needed.
  18. Responsible (with clinical program managers and senior management as appropriate) in the recruitment, development and supervision of team members. Creates and sustains an environment that fosters team member engagement. Establishes clear objectives tied to department and/or organizational strategic goals. Coaches, counsels and evaluates performance of direct reports.
  19. Tracks, analyzes, and reports on relevant data and metrics as needed and/or requested. Develops, recommends and/or implements actions or process improvements as appropriate.
  20. Participate in community outreach events
  21. Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  22. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications:

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  1. An earned master's degree in family therapy, psychology, counseling, social work or other related field from an accredited college or university; and
  2. Three years' experience in the provision of mental health services.
  3. Two years experience in administrative, management or leadership role.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  1. LCSW, or LPC, or PhD, or PsyD, or highest licensure for degree earned.
