Overview:

Hiring Range: $72,654.40- $97,406.40

Starting salary may be adjusted depending on experience

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Five (5) years or more of engineering experience in Stormwater, Hydrology,Transportation/Traffic, Construction Management or environmental/Sanitary Sewer.
  • Current State of Alabama Professional Engineering License
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and ability to obtain/maintain a City of Hoover Driver's Permit
Preferred Quallifications
  • Engineering experience in Municipal Government
  • Experience using Bluebeam
  • Qualified Credentialed Inspector Certification (QCI)

Responsibilities:

  • Reviews Engineering plans and specifications on storm drainage, site grading, and roadway design
  • Make recommendations to the City Engineer regarding design approvals based upon compliance with City regulations
  • Serves as Project Manager for various City construction projects, inspects contractors' work for compliance, maintains detailed records, and prepares cost estimates
  • Responds to citizens' complaints, and requests concerning stormwater and or flooding issues and takes appropriate action to ensure a timely resolution or citizen satisfaction.
  • Assists the City Engineer with all aspects of the City's MS4 program
  • Assists with the management of ALDOT/Federally funded projects
  • Assists City Traffic Engineer with the management of the City’s traffic signal system and maintenance
  • Assists the City Engineer and/or Project Manager with the management of the Hoover Sanitary Sewer System.
  • Coordinates with other departments in performing stormwater improvements or repairs
  • Participates in the Department's budget preparation, including equipment purchasing
  • Provides needed information concerning how to perform certain work tasks to new employees in the same or similar class of positions
  • Keeps immediate supervisor and designated others fully and accurately informed concerning work progress, including present and potential work problems and suggestions for new or improved ways of addressing such problems
  • Attends meetings, conferences, workshops, and training sessions and reviews publications and audio-visual materials to become and remain current on principles, practices and new developments in assigned work areas
  • Communicates and coordinates regularly and appropriately with others to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of interdepartmental operations and activities
  • Performs other related duties consistently as directed.
