Seeking a full-time Senior Accountant for a role in D.C.
Responsibilities:
- Performs accounting computations and prepares associated journal entries to ensure uniform application of policies, procedures, and acceptable accounting standards.
- Utilizes knowledge of accounting principles to maintain the firm’s general ledger accounts. Maintains spreadsheets of significant general ledger accounts to support balances contained on the general ledger.
- Prepares and reconciles monthly bank statements, investigates, and resolves reconciling items in a timely manner.
- Prepares daily deposit of checks and daily cash log the day following month end close as needed.
- Prepares applicable tax residency certificates and declarations.
- Prepares monthly sales and use tax returns as well as other required monthly state filings.
- Ensures understanding of the various types of meals and entertainment and other disallowances and applies the tax deduction limitation rules
- Assist in the preparation of annual foreign and domestic personal property tax returns.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly bank covenant compliance package.
- Assist in the annual budget preparation.
- Assists with month end close process pre-reconciliations and analysis of budget variances and unusual account activity.
- Supports Financial Services Managers with external auditor requests.
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 2+ years in public or private industry accounting – preferably in a law firm or other professional services entity.
- Audit background and/or strong exposure to partnership taxation is a plus.
- Familiarity with cash and accrual accounting using Elite and/or Aderant in a multi-currency, multi-company environment.
- Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and accounting systems.
- Ability to differentiate between modified cash and accrual sets of books.
- Experience with financial software applications, inclusive of Business Intelligence, FRx, Sage FAS Fixed Assets, DF Tech, and Adobe Acrobat
