Staff Accountant

We are offering a long-term contract employment opportunity for a Staff Accountant in Baltimore, Maryland.

Responsibilities:

• Managing and maintaining accurate budget data, ensuring compliance with budget limits.
• Conducting thorough reviews of grant invoices to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Allocating funds to various budget accounts as per requirements.
• Generating and distributing financial reports.
• Preparing detailed reports of grant expenditures and conducting cost analyses on new programs.
• Performing complex mathematical calculations to determine salaries, adjustments, and deductions.
• Participating in meetings involving financial matters such as budget expenditures, material and equipment purchases.
• Verifying and approving purchase orders, requisitions, personnel action requests, and other forms for sufficient funding.
• Preparing correspondence and financial reports as required.
• Utilizing Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, to manage data and perform financial analyses.
• Ensuring accurate accounting functions within an automated system.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Staff Accountant role or similar
• Proficiency in using spreadsheets and Microsoft Excel
• Demonstrated experience with budget management, including creating, managing, and adjusting budgets
• Familiarity with government grants and their financial implications
• Experience in monitoring and controlling expenditures
• Ability to handle invoices, including creation, tracking, and reconciliation
• Proven ability to prepare financial reports, including monthly financial reports
• Strong skills in cost analysis and financial forecasting
• Experience with payroll reconciliation
• Proficiency in ledger account reconciliation
• Experience with journal entries, including creation, tracking, and reconciliation
• Ability to handle purchase orders, from creation to payment
• Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear and concise correspondence.
