Material Handler - 1st Shift - Temp to Perm
We're seeking a reliable and hardworking Material Handler to join our 1st shift team. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity with potential for growth and increased pay upon conversion!
Pay: $17.50/hour (+$1.00/hour upon permanent conversion)Schedule: 1st Shift (Specific hours to be discussed during interview)
Location: Roanoke, VA
About the Role:
As a Material Handler, you'll play a vital role in our daily operations. You'll be responsible for a variety of tasks, including banding steel pipes, operating heavy equipment, and assisting customers. We prioritize a strong work ethic and positive attitude, valuing personality and reliability alongside technical skills.
Responsibilities:
- Banding: Securely band steel pipes of various sizes, requiring physical stamina and attention to detail.
- Equipment Operation: Operate side loaders and overhead cranes to move heavy materials, including steel beams weighing 5,000-10,000 lbs.
- Customer Service: Assist customers with purchases and load materials onto their vehicles.
- Data Entry: Accurately enter data into computer systems.
- General Warehouse Duties: Be flexible and willing to assist in other areas as needed.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Forklift experience is required.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and banding for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately read and interpret measurements.
- High level of trustworthiness and integrity.
- Proactive and flexible attitude, willing to take on various tasks.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Experience working with steel is preferred, but not required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move heavy materials.
- Ability to stand, bend, and lift for extended periods.
Safety Requirements:
- Steel-toe boots with met guards (gel type acceptable) are required.
- Company provides gloves, hats, and safety glasses.

Pay Details: $17.50 to $18.50 per hour
