Summary
The Maintenance Automation/Instrumentation Technician is responsible for assessing mechanical, technical, and electrical problems in all areas of the facility. This position requires a highly motivated, self-directed multi crafted worker that can work autonomously in a fast-paced production environment.
The individual will provide the highest level of in-house support. Further, this position will require people who are highly successful at working as part of a team. It will be necessary for them to partner with internal and external resources to be successful.

Must follow established safety and GMP"s and environmental standards. Adhere to all plant technical standards and company compliance with all federal, state, local, and company regulations. FDA, EPA, and SQF Certifications.

Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot, Maintain, repair, and modify highly automated production equipment including PLCs, HMIs, Ladder Logic, and Electrical, Mechanical, Hydraulic, and Pneumatic systems in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Identify problem root cause by observing mechanical systems and devices in operation, listening for problems and using precision measuring and electrical testing instrumentation and other troubleshooting methods
  • Understanding of routine and moderately complex electrical and mechanical operations. Working knowledge of Oscilloscopes and other data collection instruments; working knowledge of circuitry design, trouble shooting, safety practices and wiring
  • Able to use all standard and complex instrumentation, temperature probes, thermocouples, pressure transducers and accelerometer
  • Provide maintenance break/fix support for automation related issues, and work with Technicians/Maintenance Foreman, Supervisor and maintenance management on equipment repair and improvements
  • Ability to troubleshoot and re-wire high speed and/or highly automated equipment such as AC motors, VFDs, PLCs, servo motors, and PLC I/O modules.
  • Manufacturing or Material handling experience in Conveyor, sortation, palletizers, and robotics is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment with people of varying skills and backgrounds.
  • Serve as a high-level technical support resource for complex mechanical, automation and electrical issues.
  • Redline all Automation related programs and documentation including PLC programs, HMI programs, electrical drawings, P&IDs, pin charts, functional analyses, sequence of operations, etc.
  • Continually seek out best practices and share with the organization
  • Share of general knowledge within facility and organizational peer groups
  • Follow Safety and GMP procedures and practices
  • Work with team to maintain machinery, meeting maintenance requirements for 480-volt, 3 phase systems, and minimizing downtime
