We’re looking for an AI Policy Analyst (aka The Regulatory Navigator) to help craft policies and guidelines that shape the future of AI in alignment with societal, ethical, and regulatory standards.
As an AI Policy Analyst at our client, you’ll work closely with legal teams, AI researchers, government agencies, and industry leaders to develop policy frameworks that ensure AI technologies are secure, equitable, and beneficial. Your work will influence public policy, corporate governance, and AI compliance, ensuring the responsible use of AI systems across industries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze AI Regulations and Policies:
- Research, analyze, and interpret existing and emerging AI regulations, including national and international laws such as GDPR, CCPA, and AI-specific policies from organizations like the EU and the OECD. You’ll stay on top of legislative developments and provide strategic recommendations.
- Develop AI Policy Frameworks:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement AI governance frameworks that guide ethical AI development and deployment. You’ll ensure that these frameworks address critical issues such as fairness, accountability, transparency, and privacy.
- Assess Ethical and Societal Impacts:
- Conduct assessments to evaluate the ethical and societal implications of AI technologies, focusing on issues like bias, discrimination, and data privacy. You’ll provide guidance on how to mitigate risks and ensure AI systems are aligned with ethical principles.
- Engage with Regulatory Bodies and Stakeholders:
- Represent our client in discussions with regulatory bodies, policymakers, and industry leaders. You’ll advocate for balanced AI regulations that encourage innovation while protecting consumers and ensuring compliance with legal standards.
- AI Risk and Compliance Management:
- Develop and implement risk management strategies that ensure compliance with AI-related laws and regulations. You’ll work with internal teams to ensure that AI systems are designed with governance and risk mitigation in mind.
- Educate and Inform Internal Teams:
- Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and legal teams to ensure that AI projects are aligned with current policies and ethical standards. You’ll provide training and resources on AI regulations, ensuring that teams are informed and compliant.
- Monitor and Report on AI Policy Trends:
- Stay up to date with global AI policy trends, attending conferences, engaging with policymakers, and keeping the company informed about important regulatory changes. You’ll provide thought leadership on the evolving AI regulatory landscape.
Requirements
Required Skills:
- AI Policy Expertise: In-depth knowledge of AI regulations, ethical principles, and global policy frameworks, such as GDPR, CCPA, and other AI governance standards. You understand how these regulations impact AI development and deployment.
- Regulatory Analysis: Proven experience in regulatory analysis and the ability to interpret complex legal and policy documents. You can distill key insights and communicate their impact on business operations and AI projects.
- Ethical AI Practices: Strong understanding of ethical issues in AI, such as algorithmic bias, discrimination, data privacy, and transparency. You can provide strategic recommendations on how to address these challenges in AI systems.
- Public Policy and Advocacy: Experience engaging with government bodies, industry groups, and policymakers to influence AI policy. You’re skilled at navigating the regulatory landscape and advocating for balanced, responsible AI policies.
- Communication and Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex policy and regulatory issues to both technical and non-technical audiences. You’re comfortable working across departments to align AI projects with policy goals.
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Public Policy, Law, Ethics, AI, Data Science, or a related field. Equivalent experience in AI policy analysis or governance is highly valued.
- Certifications or coursework in AI ethics, data governance, or regulatory compliance are a plus.
Experience Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in public policy, regulatory analysis, or AI governance, with a focus on AI regulations, ethical AI practices, or data privacy laws.
- Proven track record of working with regulatory bodies or policymakers to shape AI-related policies and compliance strategies.
- Experience in advising companies on AI governance, compliance, and risk management strategies is highly desirable.
