We are in search of a Legal Assistant to join our team in Royal Oak, Michigan. The successful candidate will be tasked with supporting our growing practice within the Trust & Estate Planning industry, with the flexibility to work remotely. This role will involve working in collaboration with assigned attorneys to manage administrative services and ensure an effective daily workflow.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage attorneys' calendars and schedule appointments.
  • Prepare and compose confidential correspondence, reports, and other complex corporate documents.
  • Draft and edit estate planning documents under the supervision of attorneys.
  • Prepare estate planning signing binders.
  • Conduct time entry and billing for attorneys.
  • Arrange travel as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all firm and client matters.
  • Cover the front desk when necessary.
  • Perform other assigned duties.

Key Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PDF manipulation software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and detail-oriented skills with strong proofreading and prioritization abilities.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in using a document management system.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interact with all levels of firm employees.
  • Understanding of the importance of confidentiality. • Possession of a Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a legal assistant role, preferably in a law firm or corporate legal department.
  • Proficient in estate planning and guardianship procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of legal research databases and legal bibliographies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with legal documentation and terminology.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
