Assistant Dean for Diversity Enhancement

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead the development, plan and implementation of outreach and recruitment focusing on underrepresented groups to enrich the diversity of Einstein College of Medicine. This position is responsible for partnering with internal and external key stakeholders to implement the plans to support the development and advancement of the D&I strategy and compliance with the D&I governance.

Develop a comprehensive, data-driven recruitment and communication plan designed to increase medical and graduate students’ access, opportunity, inclusion, and diversity at Einstein College of Medicine.

Responsible for establishing and expanding partnerships with Community-Based Organizations, high schools and colleges across the state and country.

Maintain and utilize data to enhance the recruitment of underrepresented and underserved populations, conducting information sessions for prospective students and their families.

Attend external and organize internal recruitment fairs/open houses, collect a database, and continue student interaction.

Develop new and enhance existing pathway programs and document best practices including curricula design, organization, implementation, and evaluation.

Organize and implement group information sessions and conduct one-on-one conversations with prospective students, providing information and advice on admissions policies and procedures and curriculum.

Assist the Assistant Dean on issues pertaining to diversity and inclusion, ensuring the implementation of the plans within the graduate and post graduate students' community and while collaborating with the other Assistant Deans, campus leaders, committees, faculty, staff, students, and external constituents to advance the Einstein School of Medicine D&I strategic plan and recruitment of medical students.

Act as a school-wide ambassador for diversity, equity, and inclusion and work to engage and inspire members of the internal and external community by raising awareness and illustrating the importance of D&I for Einstein College of Medicine.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate should preferably hold a terminal professional degree.

At least 6 years professional work experience in the field of, diversity and inclusion, social justice advocacy and education.

Demonstrated track record in advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies that promote success for students in higher education.

Knowledge in recruitment and retention of diverse medical and graduate students.

Familiarity with pathway initiatives and enrollment management practices designed to support the recruitment, admission, and retention.

Understand of evolving issues and demographic trends impacting higher education.

Have knowledge of the communities we serve and major community groups.

Event planning

Budget (understanding of creating budgets)

Basic understanding of grant searching and writing.

Experience using technology, data, and social media to effectively build and communicate recruitment strategies are required.

Exceptional interpersonal skills, including strong communication skills and the ability to exercise a high degree of professionalism, diplomacy and discretion, with demonstrated ability to build and steward relationships with people from diverse backgrounds.

Expertise with issues of race, sexuality, gender, disability, indigeneity, class, and the dynamics of difference, privilege, and power.

Ability to lead cross-cultural groups (Inclusive mindset - Openness to difference)

Change Management skills to promote, advance and lead change

Attention to detail

Technology Savvy for data analytics, and social media usage to effectively build and communicate recruitment strategies.

Knowledge of the medical school landscape and ability to navigate it.

Knowledge of recruitment and mentoring practices related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Numerical and analytical skills.

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is listed below. Albert Einstein College of Medicine considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

Minimum Salary Range: USD $110,000.00/Yr.

Maximum Salary Range: USD $130,000.00/Yr.
