Overview:

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:

Serving under the direction of the Director of Operations, assist with the logistics & maintenance services of the East Cleveland Corps Community Center. The Facilities Assistant will support and maintain the Mission of The Salvation Army and the Vision of the East Cleveland Corps, in accordance with all applicable internal & external policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

As directed by the Director of Operations:

• General maintenance of all Salvation Army property including parking lot areas; General building upkeep includes cleaning every area of the building including interior and exterior of building – regular floor care (shampooing carpet, stripping & waxing) required
• Small repairs and troubleshoot all mechanical systems; (Minor repairs include ceiling tile changing, stopping of leaks wherever required, etc.)
• Assist with Trash, snow and ice removal; maintain cleanliness of trash cans and related equipment; snow removal duties may include reporting for additional hours
• Maintenance of sidewalks, all outside perimeter area of building
• Assist, as required, with donation pickups
• Receive deliveries and ensuring that they are securely packed and covered. After packing away delivered items in pantry and storage area, make sure that all spills are swept and mopped.
• Assist with food delivery, including verification of the contents of the delivery bill and unloading of goods. Ensure all invoices are forwarded to the Director of Operations immediately.
• Routine vehicle maintenance including cleaning (interior & exterior), fluid checks, etc.
• Report any unsafe conditions to the Director of Operations
• Participate in and support the implementation of special activities and events for the East Cleveland Corps (this includes seasonal programming)
• Any other duties as shall be required by the Supervisor or Administration

Qualifications:

MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma/GED with 1-2 years of related experience preferred
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record preferred, but not required
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to function in a fast-paced, frequently changing work environment with the ability to multi-task.
• Must be able to operate pallet-jack equipment & lift-gates, as necessary
• Must possess strong organization skills and be detail oriented.
• Must possess a professional attitude and approach to problem-solving.
• Must be able to relate well to all people and be a team player.
• Must possess excellent communication skills.
