My client is a well-established general contractor specializing in developer-driven retail construction across the country. Overview:
- Project Location: Lion's share are in the Midwest but they do have work across the continental United States
- Leadership: Diversified between the family who owns the company and folks not from the family- the leadership team has people who have experience at some of MKE's top light commercial builders
- Size: About $75M in annual revenue
- Project Types: They do 90% negotiated work and no competitive bid. 70% of their projects are adapting old retail spaces for new tenants. 30% is building ground-up stand alone buildings mainly on mall campuses.
- Team: Currently 2 full-time SPMs and 1 full-time PM. Looking for their next excellent full-time PM.
Job Description
Handle about $15M per year of commercial work.
General Job Description:
- Manage multiple nationwide retail construction projects from inception to completion
- Ensure projects meet time, budget, and quality standards while adhering to brand specifications
- Coordinate with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors across various locations
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource plans
- Conduct site visits to monitor progress and quality
- Ensure compliance with local building codes and regulations in different jurisdictions
- Implement quality control processes to maintain consistency across projects
- Identify and mitigate project risks, developing solutions for retail-specific challenges

The Successful Applicant- 5+ years of experience in commercial construction
- Ability to run projects that are on short schedules (5-6 months)
- Curiosity and an ability to ask good questions
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Orientation towards details
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Polish with clients and a relationship focus
- Competitive base for $100K to $120K
- Annual discretionary bonus which is usually about 10%
- Health insurance that is 85% employer covered

- About 3 weeks of PTO depending on what is negotiated
- 401(k) where first 3% is deferred and then 50% of the next 2% is matched
