Collections Specialist

We are offering a long term contract employment opportunity for a Collections Specialist in the healthcare industry, located in SAN DIEGO, California, United States. As a Collections Specialist, you will play a crucial role in managing and collecting outstanding payments from patients, maintaining accurate records, and communicating effectively with both patients and management.

• Accurately and efficiently process patient payment postings.
• Handle medical billing tasks and ensure all procedures are followed.
• Conduct collection calls and emails to patients with past due invoices, adhering to best practices.
• Maintain regular and effective communication with upper management, providing updates and reports as needed.
• Maintain thorough and diligent record keeping of all collection calls, reports, and patient accounts.
• Handle incoming phone calls from patients, ensuring a high level of customer service at all times.
• Take credit card payments over the phone and follow up on returned checks.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by upper management.
• Utilize Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook to organize, track, and manage data related to collections and patient billing.
• Ensure patient correspondence is handled professionally and promptly. • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Collections Specialist role or similar
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook
• Demonstrated experience in Collections, Patient Billing and Medical Billing
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• High level of organization and ability to prioritize tasks
• Knowledge of standard office procedures and practices
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information responsibly
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Willingness to continue professional development and stay updated on industry trends.
