Responsibilities- Oversee fleet condition, equipment reliability, and fleet performance.
- Plan and schedule all repair work to ensure maximum fleet uptime.
- Assist in hiring, training, and developing diesel mechanics.
- Supervise the daily activities of the fleet maintenance team to ensure timely service and repairs.
- Conduct inspections and diagnostics to address vehicle and equipment issues promptly.
- Develop preventive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend fleet asset life.
- Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, and other safety and environmental regulations.
- Manage parts inventory, procurement, and vendor relationships for maintenance services.
- Coordinate with operations to ensure efficient fleet availability for collection schedules.
- Prepare and manage maintenance budgets, control costs, and optimize fleet efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle repairs, services, and inspections.
- Implement and enhance fleet management systems for better tracking and compliance.
- Provide leadership and training to the mechanics to ensure safety and quality standards.
