Tesla is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Technician covering GFTX Cell and Cathode Manufacturing. In this role, the EHS Technician will play a vital part in ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees, customers, the campus buildings and equipment, and the environment.
They will use human and organizational principles to drive ownership of safety, health, and environmental impacts, with a focus on engagement, continuous improvement and event learning. Shift: 6PM – 4:30AM (10% pay differential) Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday
  • Maintain a strong presence in the field to engage with shop stakeholders, production associates, and contractors in fostering a robust safety culture
  • Assist with field work EHS-impacts oversight, participating in pre-job planning and verification of controls/safeguards before starting work and supporting industrial hygiene sampling
  • Conduct risk assessments and identify potential hazards in the workplace, collaborate with key stakeholders on risk reduction efforts, and develop and install safety signage (e.g., emergency evacuation maps, safety one pagers) as needed
  • Investigate and report any safety incidents or environmental concerns, and collaborate on or implement corrective actions
  • Review governmental agency regulations and perform gap assessments and action corrective steps to attain compliance; perform inspections as required by regulatory agencies
  • Support Lockout/Tagout program with labeling, training verification, and lock distribution
  • Conduct daily, weekly, monthly EHS inspections (regulatory, ergonomics, shop specific) and input data into EHS databases, document, and support safety production and construction concerns
  • 1+ years’ experience engaging OSHA 29 CFR 1910 compliance standards
  • Completed OSHA 30 (1910 preferred)
  • Practical, hands-on experience with hazard recognition and control, material handling safety and ergonomics, powered industrial vehicle safety, training, coaching, and guiding people in EHS topics, and hazardous/other regulated waste management
  • Able to rapidly respond to employee health emergencies, discern audible alarms, and activate emergency procedures. Support emergency services team, as needed
  • Able to work outside for extending periods of time being exposed to various outdoor conditions like rain, sun, wind, and hot/cold temperatures
  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs and be able to stand and/or walk for 10+ hrs daily and have a potential to work with materials which contain hazardous chemicals
  • Proficient at MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Outlook and other electronic tools/software
