AGACNP / PA-C – Pulmonary Critical Care – Full Time / Day Shift - Sarasota, Florida!
Job Summary:
The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) reflects the mission, vision, and values of Sarasota Memorial Health Care System, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and other regulatory and accreditation standards.The APRN III typically work in a multidisciplinary setting including first assist, procedures (chest tube, line placement, etc.), multiple inpatient units managing patient care which includes critical care, trauma, and surgery. An APRN is a registered nurse and therefore can perform all duties that are considered routine duties of a registered nurse.
In addition, an APRN holds a master’s or doctoral degree. The APRN functions as part of the multidisciplinary health team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentialing committee to provide high-quality, cost-effective advanced nursing care to patients within the APRN’s scope of practice.
First Physicians Group of Sarasota Memorial Health Care System is currently accepting CVs from Pulmonary and Critical Care AGACNPs/PA-Cs to join their employed physician group on the West Coast of Florida.
FPG Pulmonology specializes in the areas of Pulmonology, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine. This premier group of over 40 providers has been delivering exceptional care to the residents of the Suncoast for the last 30 years.

Role & Responsibilities:
- Full time AGACNP or Physician Assistant (PA-C) position.
- Hospital-based night-shift position working fourteen 12-hour shifts per month (including weekends) rotating between the SMH-Venice Hospital and SMH Sarasota Campus.
- Shifts will be 7PM-7AM.
- Work collaboratively with Pulmonary/Critical Care (Intensivists) at each hospital along with other subspecialties to provide the best patient care.
- Circulate the units, evaluate patients, review daily notes, labs and studies to identify patient needs.
- Discuss care plans with RN’s and enter orders accordingly.
- Review ABGs, vent settings and plan accordingly with Respiratory Therapists (RTs).
- Address cross coverage issues to include abnormal labs or changes in patient condition.
- Provide stabilization of patient if deterioration occurs.
- Will place central lines, perform intubations, participate in stroke alerts, and respond to house-wide codes when needed.
- Responsible to complete admissions to the ICU and step-down units.
- Current AGACNP or PA-C with acute care experience is preferred, but not required. Open to providing training.

Required Qualifications:
- Require advanced degree from an accredited school or college of nursing* *Must have had a Medicare number in the State of Florida prior to 1/1/03; if not, must have a Master's Degree in nursing in addition to being a Registered Professional Nurse who is authorized by Florida to practice in accordance with state law.
- Require approved APRN board certification**. **Must be certified as a APRN by a recognized national certifying body having established standards for APRN’s. The following organizations are recognized national certifying bodies for the Nurse Practitioner: American Academy of Nurse Practitioners; American Nurses Credentialing Center; National Certification Corporation for Obstetric, Gynecologic and Neonatal Nursing Specialties; National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners & Nurses; Oncology Nurses Certification Corporation; Critical Care Certification Corporation; National Commission on Certification; and American Association of Heart Failure Nurses.
