Job Description:

The Procurement Senior Supervisor reports to the Support Services Manager, Supply Chain and is responsible for leading a team of 6-10 Material Coordinators in support of BIW’s Planning Yard operations.

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Manage Supply Chain work in support of BIW’s Planning Yard contracts.
  • Support briefs to Navy customer on key vendor/material issues as required.
  • Develop relationships with the Waterfront and SSBA customers to ensure we understand all issues and concerns relating to the Planning Yard’s area of responsibilities. Build relationships with each of the homeports understanding issues and how best the planning yard can support.
  • Support all material estimates in support of all proposals and help ensure validity of material pricing.
  • Interface with BIW Design, Engineering, Program Office, Estimating, Contracts, Planning, and Manufacturing functions.
  • Lead the development of key performance indicator metrics to be used in the department monthly key performance indicator reports.
  • Establish and maintain work procedures, instructions and management metrics.
  • As needed monitor and expedite Planning Yard Fabricated products to meet milestone deliverable commitments.
  • As required support/expedite the Kitting and shipping process to support Planning Yard milestone compliance.
  • Work with PY Homeport personnel to resolve material delivery issues / expedite resolution to delivered material found to be discrepant.

Required/Preferred Education/Training:

  • BS/BA Degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Required/Preferred Experience:

  • 5+ years' Business/Finance related experience required - Supply Chain experience preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Planning Yard organization and functions is strongly desired.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Knowledge of, and experience in working with, our Navy customers (NAVSEA, SPAWAR, and Surface Ship Type Commanders).
  • Above average skills with Microsoft products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) required.
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment required.
  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to prioritize daily workloads and multi-task in a fast paced environment required.
  • Proven ability to manage complex analysis with minimal direct supervision.
  • Proven ability to compile large volumes of data into high level presentations.
