Remote/Hybrid Mid-Level Substation Design Engineer
Today we are hiring a Remote/Hybrid Mid-Level Substation Design Engineer for our client in Syracuse, NY.
This exclusive company of Engineers is currently seeking a mid-level Electrical Engineer with experience in substation design (or equivalent). This position is in the Power Delivery Substation Department of their Syracuse, New York office. An in-office and/or hybrid work environment is preferred, however a remote role may be considered and is dependent on the individual's level of experience and proven ability to work remotely.However, you need to reside in the Syracuse, NY work area.
Responsibilities:
- Perform and direct others in the detailed design of medium to extra high voltage utility substations.
-One-line diagrams, elementary and wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing, substation physical layouts, selection of substation equipment, writing of substation equipment specifications, proposal development, construction cost estimates, and project scheduling.
- Occasional travel will be required.
Required Education/Experience
-Ability to function as a Mid-Level Substation Design Engineer for the Syracuse location of our Substation Business Unit.- BSEE (BS Electrical Engineering) or BSEET (BS Electrical Engineering Technology) degree, from an accredited university preferably with a power option.
- Experience in 15kV through 500kV substation design and IEEE/ANSI standards.
- Experience in managing small project teams.
- Experience filling the role of substation design engineer for several projects occurring concurrently.
- Must have strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel.
- Must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.
Desired Education/Experience:
- Five (5) or more years experience in utility substation design as outlined above.
- Professional Engineering license (PE) strongly preferred, or ability to sit for the exam within 6 months.
- Managerial and leadership skills a plus.

Salary DOE: The pay range for this position is $75k - $95k per year; however, base pay may be higher or lower depending on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
