Associate Director, Benefits

Overview:

The Associate Director, Benefits works across all benefits programs at CFR in collaboration with the existing team in both the NY and DC offices. In partnership with the Deputy Director, Benefits and Compensation, the Associate Director manages transactional work for benefits and HR related activities related to payroll.

The Associate Director will be the main benefits contact and a go-to resource for employees in the DC office. The Associate Director will also be the primary leave administrator for the DC office, meeting with employees to discuss the leave process, distributing relevant materials, and providing information to CFR’s third party leave administrator to help process claims.

In addition, this role provides additional onsite support for in-office HR presence, including assisting with large-scale events and aiding with other HR team functions as needed.

The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to)::

  • Provide additional HR support in DC office, acting as a liaison to the NY team to triage questions, concerns, and updates; work collaboratively across our benefits functions and the larger HR team
  • Act as the main point of contact for the DC office for meetings with staff about questions and/or planning related to benefits and leave
  • Serve as the initial point of contact for workplace accommodation requests for DC office
  • Conduct benefits orientations for new employees in DC office
  • Manage benefits exit conversations and necessary processes for employees in DC office
  • Assist with annual open enrollment process(es)
  • Process benefit enrollments and compensation changes for payroll
  • Draft communication material related to benefit changes/enhancements
  • Work with benefit providers to resolve issues
  • Assist with updating benefits/leave forms and marketing materials on intranet
  • Work with the HR team in our DC office to ensure compliance with regards to notices and notification requirements
  • Work with the benefits team to streamline processes and implement solutions
  • Serve as a resource for employees and retirees
  • In collaboration with rest of benefits team, plan, lead, and manage health and wellness events and initiatives for DC office.
  • Serve as a back-up and support for the NY office across most benefits related functions
  • Perform any other duties or tasks as assigned or required

Qualifications:

Experience
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience
  • Experience meeting with all levels of employees on a range of issues related to benefits and leave situations
Related Skills & Other Requirements
  • Ability to problem solve and make decisions independently, when appropriate
  • Strong customer service and active listening skills
  • Skilled in effective communication and active listening
  • Superb attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft office suite
  • Familiarity with HCM systems and reporting

Compensation and Benefits

The full-time annual compensation range for this position is $75,000 – $90,000 depending on experience.
