Job Description:
Our client is seeking an experienced and qualified Steel Fixer to join the AWCONs team in Orange, NSW. As a steel fixer, you will be responsible for measurement, cutting, bending, and installation of welded wire mesh in concrete sections designated for reinforcement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret plans and specifications by reading and understanding project requirements.
- Prepare the work site, ensuring it is clean and free from obstructions and hazards.
- Cut and bend steel rods according to the dimensions specified in the plans.
- Place and secure steel reinforcements in concrete structures, such as columns, beams, and slabs.
- Utilize appropriate hand and power tools for steel work, such as cutters, benders, and welders.
- Verify that the steel fixing work meets quality standards and safety specifications.
- Be willing to work on international projects, following the guidelines and procedures established by the company.
Requirements:
- Hold a certificate or higher in Steel Fixing or a related field (substantial relevant experience may be accepted in place of formal qualifications).
- Have at least 3 years of experience in steel fixing.
- Exhibit strong attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, approaching problems with a logical mindset.
- Proficient in using power tools and site equipment.
- Be organized, maintain a positive attitude, and demonstrate a willingness to learn.
- Be honest and align personally with AWCONs Core Values, committing to applying these values in all work and business activities.
- Possess strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
