We are in search of a Payroll Supervisor/Manager/Director to join our legal team in Oakland, California. In this role, you will oversee payroll transactions, lead and mentor the payroll team, interact closely with the Human Resources and Benefit Departments, and manage various payroll projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the processing of payroll transactions in a fast-paced environment
  • Lead the Payroll Department and provide mentorship to three staff members
  • Collaborate closely with the Human Resources and Benefits Departments
  • Organize and prioritize numerous tasks under tight time constraints
  • Oversee new hires, salary changes, overtime, sick pay, vacation, and leave of absence calculations
  • Ensure accuracy of payroll data entry and compliance with firm policies
  • Conduct continuous reviews of payroll policies, controls, and procedures to enhance effectiveness
  • Manage payroll projects, system implementations, and upgrades
  • Prepare the GL Interface, journal entries, and GL account reconciliations
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal payroll laws and regulations, including laws and regulations regarding wage levies and garnishments
  • Provide departmental payroll expense reports, overtime expense reports, staffing reports, labor statistics reports, PTO liability, and other reports as needed. • Demonstrable experience of 10+ years in a similar role, preferably in the legal industry.
  • Proficiency in using ADP - Financial Services and ADP Workforce Now.
  • Familiarity with ATS - Asynchronous Transfer Mode.
  • Experience in using Ceridian and Crystal Reports.
  • Ability to administer 401k - RRSP.
  • Knowledge of About Time software.
  • Proficiency in various accounting functions.
  • Experience in auditing.
  • Understanding and experience in handling benefit functions.
  • Ability to manage multi-state payroll.
  • Experience in handling payroll for over 500 employees.
  • Certification as a Payroll Professional (CPP) is a must.
