Position Summary
JFCS is the lead agency of a multi-agency partnership called Immigrant Services and Connections (ISAC). This position falls under the ISAC program. This individual will assist in client intake and administrative support of the ISAC program as well as providing navigation assistance to Service Coordinators.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or minimum three years’ experience with administrative/program support tasks such as file development/maintenance, data entry, and customer service. Excellent telephone and time management skills a must. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Internet and willingness/capacity to learn a new web-based information system.Excellent organizational and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with and follow the direction of management team and staff required. Cultural sensitivity a must. Experience with emergent English speakers and marginalized populations preferred.
Proficiency in a second language is preferred but not required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists the ISAC Service Coordinator to call back clients and service providers who have contacted us through the intake line or web referrals, this includes phone/in-person screenings and intakes.
- Assists emergent English speakers with assorted referrals and paperwork including, but not limited to applications/renewals for government benefit programs, community resources and appointment assistance navigating the health care and K-12 education systems.
- Provides navigation support to clients including but not limited to assisting clients in scheduling appointments with providers, teach clients how to use public transportation, and advocating on the client’s behalf for access to interpretation with service providers at the request of ISAC Service Coordinator.
- Communicates to Service Coordination staff on client and activities on a regular basis or as requested.
- Completes paperwork in accordance to program standards and timeframe.
- Participates in staff development and training opportunities as directed.
- Assists with communication with clients, partner agencies, and external providers. Working through an interpreter if required.
- Is alert to cross-cultural interference in dealing with clients and behave in a culturally sensitive manner in order to be able to respond appropriately to the cultural characteristics of the clients.
- Supports other administrative and program activities as required.
