The Associate Director, Human Resources will lead the daily functions of the Human Resources (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. This position will start as a fractional contract position with the potential to become a full-time employment role.

This role will be located at AMP’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Durham, NC and will initially report to the Chief Legal Officer. The role will grow and evolve with AMP’s business evolution.

As a small company, this individual will need to think strategically but will also be required to have a “hands-on” approach to routine activities, ensuring day-to-day functions are executed in a timely manner.

Responsibilities:

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Maintains all HR related systems including payroll, benefits, compliance and HR confidential files.
  • Manages employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Initiates background checks and employee eligibility verifications, reviewing outcomes and addressing any issues.
  • Manages the execution of new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resources programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Advises employees and managers on HR matters.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement in HR processes, systems and policies, recommending changes as appropriate.
  • Manages relationship with HR vendors.

  • Ability to work with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education Requirements and Experience Requirements (degree, certifications, etc.)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of human resources experience preferred.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly desired.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
