Water Resources / Stormwater Engineer

Gannett Fleming TranSystems is seeking a dedicated and experienced Stormwater Engineer to join our Northeast Roadway Water Resources Group. The successful candidate will have between 5 to 10 years of experience in stormwater engineering and will be responsible for a variety of tasks related to highway and rail clients throughout the tri-state area and New England.

The preferred location for this role would be in our NYC office at 1 Penn Plaza, but alternate office locations in East Brunswick, NJ, Marlton, NJ, West Hartford, CT, or Boston, MA would be possible.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design highway drainage systems and Green Infrastructure/stormwater management facilities.
  • Perform hydrologic watershed modeling.
  • Develop hydraulic models for bridge and culvert replacements.
  • Conduct bridge scour analyses and design scour countermeasures.
  • Develop construction plans.
  • Prepare environmental permit applications.
  • Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer license in NY, NJ, CT and/or MA or the ability to obtain with reciprocity.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in stormwater engineering for roadway and/or rail projects preferred.
  • Proficiency in MicroStation, StormCAD, PondPack, HEC-RAS, Excel, Word.
  • Direct experience completing projects with public sector/municipal agencies in Greater New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, or Massachusetts.
  • Experience securing permits from environmental agencies authorizing floodplain impacts, wetland impacts, and erosion & sediment control designs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
