THIS POSITION IS ON THE OXFORD COLLEGE OF EMORY UNIVERSITY CAMPUS, 36 MILES EAST OF ATLANTA.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Coordinates student activities programs and assists with administrative and group advisement functions.
  • Meets with and supports various student groups.
  • Advises student program members and leaders regarding program planning and development, group process concerns, leadership and personal development, budgets, state law, University policy and legal issues.
  • Plans and attends weekly meetings held by various programs. Plans, conducts and supervises special events.
  • Evaluates the success of various programs, groups, functions and special events.
  • Provides input into departmental goals and objectives.
  • Compiles, edits and produces publications, brochures, and newsletters.
  • Maintains required records and documentation.
  • Prepares various operational and statistical reports for management and regulatory agencies.
  • Supervises student staff by orienting, training, and providing performance feedback on an on-going basis.
  • Develops and implements training and development programs for student leaders.
  • Provides informal counseling on an on-going basis.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:

  • Oversees Learning to Lead 100 (a 1-credit hour freshman seminar course), including the development and implementation of course curriculum, student enrollment, faculty/staff recruitment, facilitator training, and course section management
  • Oversees Learning to Lead 200 and 201E (each a 1-credit hour academic course for student facilitators), including curriculum development, weekly course meetings, one-on-one student support, and course assessment
  • Oversees Ignite Oxford Pre-Orientation, including the program’s development, planning, implementation, and assessment; the recruitment, training, and management of student pre-orientation leaders; and program-related communications with incoming students and their parents
  • Co-coordinates Presidents’ Institute, a required leadership training for all student organization presidents designed to prepare and educate them to create meaningful experiences and affect change in their respective groups.
  • Manages annual programmatic budgets
  • Provides programmatic support for New Student Orientation, including Move-In Day, OxOlympics, Candlelight Procession, and more
  • Supports programming for office-wide programs including Involvement Fair (September), Family Weekend (October), Spring Start Orientation (January), Gold & Blue Awards (May), Sophomore Banquet (May), and OSC Community Hour programming
  • Supports other leadership education programs with SILT, including annual Leadership Oxford (LO) retreat
  • Collaborates with other offices and departments to support student leadership education programs
  • Provides informal counseling and support to students on an on-going basis
  • Attends bi-weekly staff meetings and monthly Campus Life meetings
  • Attends consistent 1-on-1s with supervisor
  • Evaluates the success and/or impact of events and programs
  • Maintains required records and documentation
  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A master's degree in student personnel, higher education administration, counseling, or a related field.

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
