Overview:

VTG is seeking a Project Financial Data Specialist, to work in our Virginia Beach office location.

Responsibilities:

The Project Financial Data Specialist will support our Program Management Office in managing and creating project MS Excel budget files (flat files) for use within our Quickbase ecosystem. This role will ensure accurate and timely management of project financial data and support efforts to align charges directly to projects.

• Flat File Management:
• Create, manage, and update project budget files MS Excel budget files (flat files) to support the Quickbase application ecosystem.
• Ensure files are accurate, complete, and formatted per Quickbase compatibility standards.
• Facilitate data transfers between MS Excel budget files (flat files) and Quickbase applications to maintain data integrity.
• Financial Data Oversight:
• Collaborate with project teams to track and report project financials, ensuring alignment with budget and forecast objectives.
• Support direct charge allocation processes, ensuring costs are accurately assigned to the respective projects.
• Identify and correct financial discrepancies, working closely with the finance team.
• Collaboration and Communication:
• Work with the Quickbase development team to ensure seamless integration of project MS Excel budget files (flat files).
• Partner with Program Managers and project teams to understand financial requirements and reporting needs.
• Communicate data insights and trends to stakeholders to support decision-making.
• Process Optimization:
• Develop and document best practices for flat file management and financial data tracking.
• Recommend enhancements to the existing system for improved efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Data Analytics, Business Administration, or related field (equivalent experience considered).
• 3+ years of experience in financial data management, project accounting, or related roles.
• Proficiency in data management tools (e.g., Excel, CSV manipulation) and familiarity with Quickbase or similar project management platforms.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Familiarity with government contracts, ship repair, and AIT-related projects is a plus.

Preferred Skills:

• Knowledge of financial data reporting best practices.
• Experience working in a project-driven organization, preferably in ship repair or defense industries.
• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
