As a Bilingual Support Counselor, you will provide family-centered mental health counseling, support, crisis intervention, and case management services for youth and their families. Bilingual Support Counselors are members of a multi-disciplinary team and provide trauma-informed, culturally responsive services at times within the community: in families’ homes, schools, or other community locations convenient to the family.

ABOUT RISE

Santa Clara County Response Intervention Services and Empowerment (RISE) program is a partnership between the Santa Clara's Probation Department, Behavioral Health, and Seneca Family of Agencies. RISE serves clients aged 12-25, offering services such as individual, family, and group therapy, case management, and rehabilitation.

RISE short-term goal is to provide evidence-based assessment, planning, and treatment for youth and families to help them comply with probation terms and address mental health, education, substance abuse, and social service needs. Our long-term goal is to reduce recidivism, enhance psychosocial functioning, and improve community safety.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide counseling and case management services for enrolled youth and their families
  • Support client and family to connect to natural supports and community-based resources
  • Provide crisis intervention and other mental health services as needed at client homes, schools, and other community locations
  • Participate in all treatment reviews, program staff meetings, and Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings when necessary
  • Complete mental health notes and other paperwork, and complete service tracking documentation as indicated
  • Assist with planning arrangements and transportation for school, therapy appointments, and court hearings as needed
  • Attend team meetings, weekly trainings, individual and group supervisions, and adhere to clinical best practices
  • Utilize crisis communication and de-escalation techniques that may include intervening with the clients' behavioral program through physical management if applicable

Qualifications:

REQUIRED
  • Bilingual Spanish skills set
  • Education/Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree OR
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent + 1 year of applicable experience OR
  • High School Diploma/GED + 2 years of applicable experience
  • Applicable experience can include paid or unpaid experience working with youth or families or working in the social services field
  • Flexible schedule with the ability to work some evening hours as needed
  • Be part of a rotating emergency on-call system, scheduled with supervisor ahead of time
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and insurability through Seneca Family of Agencies’ insurance policy
  • TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirements
  • Proof of up-to-date COVID-19 vaccination
PREFERRED
  • Experience working with children/youth and families with complex and enduring needs
  • Experience implementing family-focused services
  • Familiarity with community resources for young adults
SKILLS OF AN IDEAL CANDIDATE
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse population and workforce
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational, time management, and writing skills

Schedule:

  • Full time
  • Monday - Friday; 9am - 5:30pm

  • Starting at $28.64 - $31.14 per hour, commensurate with experience
