We are offering a long-term contract employment opportunity for a Controller in Rensselaer, NY. This role is primarily involved in overseeing the accounting function within the manufacturing industry. The Controller will be tasked with managing system upgrades, transitioning accounting basis, improving current processes, facilitating software upgrades, and assisting with corporate tax strategy.

Responsibilities:

Oversee the implementation and upgrade of accounting software systems, such as Sage50 to Sage100 or an alternative recommendation
Transition companies from a cash accounting basis to an accrual basis
Evaluate both General Ledgers and identify areas for process improvement
Assist in the development and implementation of corporate tax strategy
Review all accounting processes and pinpoint areas for improvement
Implement new efficiencies in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
Oversee unit costing for the manufacturing plant
Implement and manage the budget process
Resolve ongoing sales tax queries
Address inventory issues and asset tracking.

Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems
Familiarity with various accounting functions
Ability to manage Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
Experience in auditing and budget processes
Knowledge of corporate tax department operations
Experience in manufacturing cost accounting
Familiarity with various accounting systems
Ability to work in a team and lead when necessary
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
CPA or relevant certification is preferred
Proven experience as a Controller or similar role
Strong understanding of business and income tax worksheets and computations
Familiarity with financial regulations
Proficient in Microsoft Office and finance software
An analytical mind with a strategic ability
Strong ethical standards and high levels of integrity
Ability to strategize and solve problems
Strong communication and presentation skills
Understanding of advanced mathematical and accounting principles.
