Manufacturing In-House Counsel

Position Summary

We are seeking a qualified In-House Counsel with a manufacturing company to join a small but mighty legal team. This In-House Counsel will be responsible for providing legal advice and support to the company and its affiliated companies. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in corporate law, commercial contracts, and a keen understanding of the manufacturing industry.

This role is mostly remote, but a strong preference is for this In-House Counsel to occasionally commute into the San Diego or Seattle office. For company tax purposes, please do not apply if you do not already reside in Washington or California.

Responsibilities
  • Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts, including purchase agreements, sale agreements, supplier manufacturing agreements, and more.
  • Litigation Support: Manage litigation matters with outside counsel, including environmental lawsuits and labor disputes.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including export controls and trade security.
  • Advise Management: Provide legal advice and counsel to management on various regulatory matters.

Pay is contingent upon experience with the above responsibilities, and ideally, experience in the manufacturing industry.

Must-Have Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school in the US
  • 7+ years of experience in corporate law and commercial contracts, preferably in the manufacturing industry.
  • Active member of the bar in any U.S. state.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to export control regulations.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% to San Diego, Seattle, or New York.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
  • Experience working in the legal department of a manufacturing company.
  • Experience with import/export compliance for Dual-Use and/or ITAR commodities and technologies.
  • Background in aerospace or military industries (FAR and DFAR preferred).
  • Proficiency in the Japanese language.
