Responsibilities:
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Assistant Director for Core Laboratory Services, the position is responsible for providing leadership and expertise to direct a comprehensive department wide safety, regulatory affairs, compliance, and quality programs, and oversee Point of Care activities for UC Irvine Health.The scope of responsibility includes regulatory and quality oversight of the clinical and pathology laboratories including Transfusion Medicine and affiliated external laboratories within UCI as directed. Additionally, this position has responsibilities for the development and maintenance of a comprehensive Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement Program integrating all phases of the laboratory operations.

Required Qualifications:
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as a part of a team, and ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
- Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
- Must possess fundamental knowledge of laboratory safety guidelines
- Must possess fundamental knowledge of Point of Care Testing Systems
- Must possess fundamental background knowledge of both State and Federal Laboratory Regulatory compliance statutes, laws, and regulations
- Must have expertise in Regulatory Compliance Program management
- Must have experience and expert knowledge of clinical lab operations
- Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
- Knowledge of performance improvement principles and ability to lead QA and PI initiatives related to laboratory compliance
- Experience in developing and delivering effective presentations to a variety of audiences.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to manage multiple on-going assignments and successfully meet deadlines
- Ability to manage and engage other professionals
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
- Ability to appropriately influence faculty and professional staff regarding compliance issues
- Ability to appropriately and successfully represent the organization to outside regulatory agencies
