Position Summary:
The Patient Account Representative is responsible for the registration, scheduling, billing, insurance verification, and authorizations for the Radiology Therapeutic department. In addition, this position is responsible for maintaining organized and efficient admin functions to support the delivery of care.The Patient Account Representative will also serve as a subject matter expert on subjects relating to medical record systems, downloading and uploading of patient information into our electronic medical record systems. Lastly, this role is accountable for preparing requests for treatment for the Physicians and the Radiation Therapists.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job
Assists with the end to end processing of patient registration, scheduling, billing, authorization, and treatment planning to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement.Maintains organized administrative support functions within the Radiology Therapeutic department, including but not limited to file management, report distribution, and computer system utilization.
Interacts with patients to ensure understanding, and overall positive patient care experience.
Enters emergent orders in accordance with outlined processes to support routine and prioritize emergent patient care needs.
Actively problem solves non-routine billing and or cancellation occurrences requiring contractual interpretation.
Assists in training of new staff personnel to the Radiology Therapeutic Department.
Supports the development and maintenance of department procedural manual updates and creates new manuals as appropriate to support changing and evolving business needs.
Demonstrates the ability to maintain accurate records in accordance with any applicable regulatory guideline or standard.
Maintains Service Excellence with patients, visitors, and other staff members.
Appropriate level of expertise in registering, verifies and updates patient information in EPIC in a timely and accurate manner.
Prioritizes and coordinates job duties to maximize the department's efficiency, monitors work queues for account follow up and bill release.
Attends meetings as required. Responds appropriately and promptly to department/management and customer requests for information or other actions.
Ensures and obtains correct current eligibility, benefit coverage and authorizations to secure patient accounts.
Maintains a neat, organized work environment according to specific work-related supplies and reference material locations.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications/Work Experience:One year of experience in Radiology Therapeutic or Radiation Oncology field with an emphasis on scheduling, registration, authorization, and billing required
Knowledge of insurance authorization and pre-certification billing
Knowledge of medical terminology or Radiation Oncology procedures
Proficient in computer functions, data entry and windows platforms
Education/Licensure/Certification: High School graduate or equivalent preferred
