Recreation Therapy Asst, Skilled Nursing Facility
Position Summary:
To assist in planning, implementing and evaluating the recreational, social, intellectual, psychosocial, emotional and spiritual programs of the facility and in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations and with the resident’s assessment and care plan in mind.
Responsibilities:
Interview residents to obtain recreational and leisure information. Assist with written resident evaluations, care plans and documentation. Insure that all written resident care plans are followed accordingly. Implement, coordinate and supervise events and programs as noted on the recreation calendars.
Work directly with and oversee residents engaged in scheduled programs and events to promote the physical, social, psychosocial and mental well-being of residents by applying experience in recreation and knowledge of diagnoses and conditions of residents.
Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards. Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Other Related Functions Assist with pet care.
Supervise volunteers as assigned.
Drive residents in facility bus to outings.
Qualifications:
Education/Training High school diploma or its equivalent.
Must have working knowledge of computer applications.
Must be able to speak, comprehend, read and write the English language.
Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, team member and the general public.
Must have the ability to create a social and positive experience for residents, and be able to diffuse any potentially unpredictable and volatile occurrences.
Licensure/Certification
Valid Florida driver’s license and must be insurable under the Orlando Health insurance carrier’s requirements and standards.
