Battery storage market is booming in US, central and Latin America and NHOA is extending its global leading position to the region. Declining lithium-ion battery prices, increasing solar PV installations and electric vehicles development are many factors driving the battery market.
This role, as part of the Global Project Delivery team, drives effective NHOA project delivery across the Americas. The Project Manager reports functionally to the VP Project Management & Construction and is a direct report to the VP Americas.
We seek a person passionately committed to a sustainable energy future who will actively lead delivery of a large-scale battery energy storage project in execution and support the business development team in converting more business opportunities in the geography.
The Project Manager will be the primary contact for the client where matters of overall operations and work performance are concerned. He/She shall keep close liaison with the counterparts in the project team and shall attempt to identify problem areas in time to secure corrective action without affecting either the project budget or schedule.
The successful candidate is an experienced Project Manager familiar with EPC contracts, industry common practices and technologies, and with a proven record of planning and managing large-scale EPC projects on time and within the budget. He/She will be based in The Woodlands, TX, and shall be available to travel up to 50% of the time, based on project needs.
Task and Duties:
- Fosters effective and collaborative relationships with clients and contractors
- Supports the business development team during the tendering process to:
o Advise and validate project delivery requirements at tender stage with project construction partner, ensuring the project is set up for delivery success
o Complete project schedule for inclusion in tender package, in liaison with project construction partner and client (if required)
o Actively advise on matters of project delivery during contract negotiations
o Manage the handover process from bidding to project delivery team- Serves as point-of-contact for the Client during the project execution
- Ensures that the project is brought to a successful completion and meets the required time, budget quality and project specifications
- Prepares, updates and reports project management plan, cost budget, project schedule, project receivables and contract completion milestones. Provides progress reports and other status updates to client and management as required
- Manages contract requirements, risks and issues, and develops risk response strategy and plans as required
- Leads and steers project engineering, purchasing, logistics and subcontracting activities
- Participates in customer meetings and negotiations. Establishes and maintains excellent customer relationships
- Applies Project Management best practices
- Day to day management of the project and the project team
- Coordination and direction for all contract preparations and issues
- Manages the suppliers, the General Contractor and key project stakeholders
- Promotes safety awareness and safe performance among all team members and commits to the overall responsibility for Safety, Health and Environment compliance to the Contract
- Implementation of the QHSE program to ensure all work is compliant with the Contract, applicable law, and highest safety standard
- Manages the permitting (application for permits and licenses, etc…) and the construction of the Project
- Detailed project planning and definition of the development plan of the orders, coordinating the assigned human resources
Your Background:
- 5 - 7 years’ experience in industry or energy project management with track record of success in USA and/or Latin America. We favour experienced profiles with previous experiences in renewables (favourably in energy storage system)
- Working experience in several of the following areas: Coordination of large sized EPC projects, construction laws, labour laws, health and safety regulations, grid codes, contract negotiation, project control and finance, scheduling, progress measurement, risk assessment, change management, estimating process and planning, electronic document file management…
- Knowledge of Microsoft Project and/or Primavera P6
- Fluent in Spanish (spoken and written) ; A third language is a plus (Italian or French)
- PMP® or IPMA® certification will be advantageous
