Business Intelligence (BI) Engineer - Sarasota

We are offering a long term contract to hire employment opportunity for a Business Intelligence (BI) Engineer in Sarasota, Florida for a hybrid schedule 3 days onsite. The BI Engineer will champion data literacy initiatives, monitor and maintain data catalogs, analyze comprehensive data, interpret statical trends and patterns, and support department business intelligence needs and objectives.

Responsibilities:

• Leading software and hardware upgrades, providing recommendations on technical and project issues.
• Developing and maintaining data visualization and reporting efforts leveraging tools like MS Power BI or Tableau.
• Implementing and maintaining data structures and models for relational and non-relational data using platforms and tools: Python, MS SQL, SSIS, T-SQL, DAX, M-Code, PowerShell, and Azure Data Platform.
• Conducting statistical data analysis for descriptive, diagnostic, prescriptive, and predictive data modeling and reporting.
• Identifying opportunities for data acquisition, interpreting trends and patterns to enhance data quality and reliability.
• Providing 24/7 application support during on-call time.
• Participating in technical designs to ensure compliance with business requirements and technical specifications.
• Training customers and other IT professional staff who use programs/systems.
• Attending training classes, conferences, seminars, and workshops to increase knowledge in system analysis and design, computer programming, utilities, and other applicable skills such as written and oral communication, project management, and leadership skills.
• Participating in user groups, formal classes, and self-instruction to keep abreast of the latest developments and technical advances in the industry as they relate to assigned projects.

Business Intelligence platform is Microsoft Power BI, Report Server edition and the service.

Top requirements:

• Have mastery of Power BI and Power Query, using M-Code and DAX.
• A candidate should have moderate T-SQL skills, including performing aggregates, creating views, and understanding security roles.
• The candidate will be leading data literacy discussions and trainings on how to perform actions within Power BI.
• The candidate should have excellent customer service skills as they will be interacting with clients for requirements gathering and assistance as required.
• The candidate will need excellent organization skills and have the ability to manage several projects at a time.
• If the candidate has data governance experience that is a bonus, as they will be assisting maintaining our MS Purview data catalog.
• Another bonus is understanding of the Power Platforms/MS Fabric.
