Overview: As a Technical Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of the organization's IT systems and infrastructure. You will manage servers, network devices, operating systems, and software applications to ensure reliability, security, and performance.

Your role will involve collaborating with other IT teams and stakeholders to support business operations and strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  1. System Installation and Configuration: Install, configure, and maintain servers, storage systems, virtualization platforms, and other IT infrastructure components. Ensure that systems are properly configured and integrated to meet business requirements and performance objectives.
  2. Operating System Management: Manage and administer server operating systems, such as Windows Server, Linux, or Unix, including installation, patch management, and software updates. Configure system settings, user accounts, and security policies to maintain system integrity and compliance.
  3. Network Administration: Configure and manage network devices, such as routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN gateways, to ensure connectivity, security, and performance. Monitor network traffic, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and implement network optimization strategies.
  4. Backup and Disaster Recovery: Develop and implement backup and disaster recovery solutions for critical systems and data. Configure automated backup schedules, data replication, and failover mechanisms to minimize downtime and ensure business continuity.
  5. Security and Compliance: Implement security controls and best practices to protect IT systems and infrastructure from cyber threats, malware, and unauthorized access. Conduct security assessments, vulnerability scans, and compliance audits to identify and remediate security vulnerabilities and compliance gaps.
  6. Monitoring and Performance Tuning: Monitor system performance, resource utilization, and availability metrics using monitoring tools and performance tuning techniques. Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, optimize system configurations, and scale resources as needed to meet growing demands.
  7. User Support and Training: Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to end-users and IT staff on system-related issues. Create documentation, tutorials, and training materials to educate users on system usage, best practices, and security protocols.
  8. Documentation and Change Management: Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, procedures, and operational processes. Follow change management procedures to plan, test, and implement system changes in a controlled manner to minimize disruptions and risks.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; relevant industry certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator, CompTIA Server+) are highly desirable.

Proven experience in systems administration or a similar role, with hands-on experience managing enterprise-scale IT systems and infrastructure.

Strong knowledge of server hardware, operating systems, virtualization technologies, and network protocols.

Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
