Description:

The Senior Quality Improvement Data Analyst plays a crucial role in improving the quality of care, patient safety, service, and related outcomes throughout BMC by assisting to facilitate accessibility, understanding, and active use of data.

Essential duties:

Work with the Director of Clinical Quality Analytics/Manager of Hospital Performance Analytics to facilitate the accessibility, understanding, and active use of data required to improve the quality of care, patient safety, service, and related outcomes throughout BMC.

Provide in-house content expertise in informatics and statistical/epidemiological analysis including project management support as necessary.
Serve the data and information needs of a wide variety of customers including physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, administrators, and other non-technical staff throughout the organization.
Work closely with BMC Data Warehouse team to extract data using SQL tools.

Perform as an expert user of the Vizient Clinical Database in order to acquire need to support customers throughout BMC Integrates data from BMC Data Warehouse, Vizient and other sources as needed, Analyze data using appropriate statistical/epidemiological methodologies, including (but not limited to) regression analysis/risk adjustment, using tools such as SAS, SPSS, and other tools as needed.

Prepare graphical reports for a wide variety of customers throughout BMC in a manner that meets the needs of end-users.
Meet with customers throughout BMC including administrators, clinicians, and staff to understand data/information needed in order to manage the clinical enterprise and facilitate quality improvement activities.
Provide data and information to customers in a readily accessible, understandable and actionable manner using tools such as Tableau, Excel, PowerPoint, Crystal Reports, Visio and other tools as needed.
Serve on quality improvement teams to support data and information needs of high priority quality improvement projects.
Support development, updating and distribution of quality and patient safety dashboard and other standard reports.
Promote continual improvement in data visualization and reporting processes.
Train end-user community in pragmatic interpretation of statistics, such as statistical process control.
Provide guidance to lower-level analysts and aids Director of Clinical Analytics/Manager of Hospital Performance Analytics in project management.

Perform other duties as assigned and/or necessary.

Requirements:

Masters degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field such as business administration, with coursework focused on theoretical knowledge of statistical theory and methods, business statistics, computational methods, data mining and modeling, optimization, computer applications, data analysis and display, forecasting methods, performance analysis, and other mathematical/analytical tools and techniques used to extract meaningful insights from data.

Four (4) years of data analytics experience conducting quantitative and qualitative analyses of data sets to deliver numerical data and reports to a variety of users in support of decision-making. The stated experience must include: (1) organizing, synthesizing, and analyzing large amounts of information; (2) conducting advanced analytics with SQL; (3) creating advanced data visualizations and reporting using Tableau; (4) working with statistical tools such as SAS, SPSS, or similar; (5) managing multiple projects and meeting deliverable deadlines in a timely manner.

Candidates subject to a Technical Review during the interview process involving an analytical task to demonstrate proficiency with SQL and desktop MS tools including Excel spreadsheets to create, view, edit, and share data files, Word, and PowerPoint.
