Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and manage safety programs and policies to promote a culture of safety throughout the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to food safety, workplace safety, and environmental standards.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and areas for improvement.
  • Lead investigations of safety incidents, near misses, and compliance violations, recommending corrective actions and preventative measures.
  • Provide training and education to employees on safety protocols, compliance requirements, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with various departments, including operations, human resources, and quality assurance, to integrate safety and compliance initiatives into daily operations.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in safety and compliance.
  • Prepare and present reports to senior management on safety performance, compliance status, and areas for improvement.

The Successful Applicant
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Environmental Science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety and compliance management, preferably within the food distribution or manufacturing industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, food safety standards (e.g., FDA, USDA), and environmental compliance.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and engage employees at all levels.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on training and team collaboration.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CSP, CHMM) are a plus.
