Civil Engineer - Marine Structures

Overview:
Kimley-Horn's Virginia Beach, Virginia (VA) office is seeking a Civil Engineer with 10+ years of experience to join their Marine Structures team! This is not a remote position.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with the management and leading of projects
- Develop full sets of structural drawings and technical specifications without guidance
- Train and mentor Engineers-In-Training (EITs) in structural engineering
- Perform structural design calculations, plan production activities, and prepare project document submittal packages, while maintaining a Quality Control program for the entire project
- Lead and provide support for construction phase efforts on building projects in structural engineering
- Support and participate in meetings and presentations with clients, contractors, and design team members
- Contribute to identifying project opportunities through networking with new and existing clients
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field, required. Master's degree preferred.
- Professional licensure as a P.E. in Virginia
- 10+ years of diversified structural engineering experience in waterfront and ports. Bridge design or deep foundation/bulkhead design experience will also be considered.
- History of providing technical design and planning in the areas of waterfront structures and marine environments, bridges, or foundations/bulkheads
- Strong desire and ability to be engaged with clients solving project problems
- Ability to effectively communicate positively at all levels of the organization
- Ability to manage and mentor staff and direct resources effectively in a positive manner
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects profitably
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage multiple simultaneous deadlines
- Strong technical writing and communication skills
