About the Role:
The Information Governance Operations Manager is an integral part of Latham’s Information Governance Operations team and will be responsible for providing leadership for and managing all day-to-day operations of the Information Governance Operations team, while organizing, assigning, delegating, and coordinating the work of the staff to ensure department objectives are met timely and accurately.This role will be located in our Century City Office. Please note that this role requires an in-office presence.
Responsibilities & Qualifications:
Other key responsibilities include:
- Advising and educating firm personnel on the appropriate locations where data should be stored; understanding the firm’s systems and tools and acting as a resource regarding various information governance questions for staff, attorneys, and other users
- Managing all aspects for all information governance processes, including file intakes, releases, destructions, and data access requests for the office; ensuring compliance with firm policies, and ensuring completion of the relevant process; responding to questions from staff and other users and providing instruction and training as needed
- Implementing information governance policies and procedures; ensuring compliance with legal standards
- Providing guidance on the categorization and organization of firm and client files, including the formulation and implementation of standard naming conventions; ensuring that staff has an understanding of the various types of documents in a legal environment and how they should be handled to ensure the firm is fulfilling its ethical and legal obligations
- Implementing records retention policies and procedures, ascertaining which files are subject to retention, communicating with attorneys and clients regarding the disposition of files, and maintaining meticulous records regarding file disposition
- Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains
We’d love to hear from you if you:
- Possess excellent leadership skills (i.e., organizing, planning, problem-solving, and decision-making) necessary for effective management
- Demonstrate the ability to supervise work of others to ensure compliance and accuracy
- Display extensive knowledge of information governance, data security, and privacy principles, best practices, and procedures; basic understanding of various legal systems and a broad understanding of the types of documents encountered in a legal environment
And have:
- A bachelor's degree; an advanced degree, preferably; additional relevant Information Governance or Records experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
- CRM, IGP and/or CIPP certification, preferably
- A minimum of eight (8) years of Information Governance, Records, or relevant experience, preferably in a law firm Information Governance or Records Department; experience in other law firm positions having significant document organizational responsibilities may be considered in lieu of directly related Information Governance or Records experience
- A minimum of four (4) years of experience implementing and administering policies and procedures, preferably
- A minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience

Pay Range: USD $150,000.00 - USD $180,000.00 /Yr.
