Job Description

M&J is currently seeking a Senior Engineer assigned to our Arlington, VA office, who will be working onsite at our project in Washington, DC. For this position, the successful candidate will work on our client’s site for up to five years with the potential for follow-on work in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. The successful candidate will manage the assigned elements of a rail infrastructure project

Overview

The Senior Engineer serves as the onsite M&J representative providing engineering infrastructure and operational project support in support of a Federal construction project in the Washington DC area.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and coordination of civil and structural engineering projects, with a focus on rail transit systems.
  • Oversee the preparation of detailed project specifications, plans, and estimates for rail infrastructure projects.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including civil, traffic, and structural engineers to ensure projects meet technical and safety standards.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables to ensure successful completion within scope and on time.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and support staff.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and industry best practices in all project phases.
  • Participate in client meetings and presentations, providing detailed technical reports and recommendations.
  • Conduct field inspections and assessments to verify project compliance and resolve on-site issues.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports, documentation, and technical specifications to stakeholders and senior management.
  • Perform all other position-related duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Undergraduate or master’s degree in civil, Structural, Traffic Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred.
  • 15+ years of related work experience, specifically in rail transit infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of industry standards and regulatory guidelines governing rail transit systems.
  • Proven experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams and managing large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency in engineering design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, etc.).
  • Excellent communication, project management, and leadership skills. Salary level is commensurate with applicable experience, education, and certifications.
