Teen Center Program Coordinator – Navy Yard Clubhouse

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a part-time Teen Center Program Coordinator at the Navy Yard Clubhouse in Brooklyn, NY.
Under the direct supervision of the Director, the Teen Coordinator will be responsible for planning, organizing, conducting and evaluating departmental programs, activities and events and providing individual guidance and referrals as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Recruit members for Social Recreation programs, activities and events for members ages 13-18
- Motivate members to participate in programs, activities and events
- Ensure the delivery and evaluation of assigned Teen Campus programs & services
- Submit all required reports and records timely to the appropriate staff member
- Initiate and maintain community contacts; families, schools and other organizations and institutions as directed
- Collaborate with outside entities to enhance programs and services; families, schools and other organizations and institutions as directed
- Provide group and individual instruction
- Assist with the completion of homework
- Participate in organizational meetings and conferences as requested
- Ensure a healthy, safe environment in program areas
- Supervise the care and maintenance of equipment and facility
- Plan, promote, and conduct special events.
- Encourage and develop good sportsmanship and fair play amongst youngsters.
- Stimulate interest in activities through up to date bulletin boards, announcements and flyers.
Required Skills/Knowledge:
- A high school diploma is required, some college experience is preferred and at least 1 year of experience in youth development
- Demonstrated ability to plan, conduct and supervise recreational/leadership programs and services
- Ability to communicate effectively with young people from diverse backgrounds, ages 13-18 as well as a range of other organizational personnel in a courteous and professional manner
- Must be highly motivated and dedicated to the organizational mission
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential
