Advanced Practice Provider - Plastic Surgery - Gender Health
Overview:
Eskenazi Medical Group is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in Plastic Surgery that will apply diagnostic reasoning and psychomotor skills in the performance of procedures, evaluations, consultations, referral making, and completion of preoperative, perioperative, and postoperative planning as required.
Responsibilities:
This Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner will see patients in the clinic, in the OR and post-operatively. The position will be located in the Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital, Indianapolis, IN.- Utilize Plastic Surgery staff during clinic hours and respond directly to patient calls regarding medical concerns and medication refills
- Complete prior authorizations for medications utilized in specialty services for patients receiving care in Plastic Surgery
- Review labs and diagnostic testing related to gender affirming surgery
- Evaluate and revise patient plans of care with changing diagnostic results and individual needs
- Collaborate with Plastic Surgery staff physicians or other providers as necessary
- Notify patients of changes to care plan and diagnostic results
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team (social workers, nurses, interpreters, pharmacists, program coordinator, dietician, speech therapists, attorneys, physicians etc.) to evaluate needs, determine supports and initiate appropriate services
- Precept APRN students by providing clinic education and support during APRN students' clinical rotations in the Plastic Surgery
- Maintains appropriate certifications and pursues scholarship in evidence based practices for patient care across the continuum of gender affirming surgical care
- Education of Eskenazi staff at all levels regarding cultural sensitivity, where appropriate
Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with a Master of Science degree- Current Indiana license, Indiana Controlled Substance and Drug Enforcement Registration
Expertise in the practice of nursing validated by five years of current clinical practice including two years in the area of adult/family practice preferred.
Experience working with transgender and non-binary patients is an asset. The Plastic Surgery Gender Affirming Care Provider works as an educator, advocate, and surgical care coordinator for a large panel of transgender and non-binary patients.
