JOB PURPOSE
The QA/QC Coordinator handles quality assurance and quality control processes to ensure that all solar projects meet regulatory standards and project specifications. Their primary purpose is to implement and monitor quality management systems, conduct and document field inspections for each stage of project construction, ensure compliance with safety and environmental requirements, and to minimize defects and ensure high-quality project delivery.
Responsibilities:
Key Accountabilities- Develop and implement QA/QC plans, procedures, and quality management systems for solar projects. Ensure compliance with standards, specifications, and regulations.
- Maintain comprehensive records, including inspection reports and quality control logs. Provide regular quality reports to management. Ensure Operations Playbook is updated accordingly.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure installations, materials, and workmanship meet quality standards. Document findings and recommend actions. Oversee quality assurance for materials and services provided by suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring they meet project specifications.
- Train on-site personnel and subcontractors on quality control procedures, safety standards, and best practices to ensure consistency and compliance.
- Identify potential quality risks, investigate non-conformances, propose solutions, and implement corrective actions to mitigate issues.
Qualifications:
Experience/Qualifications/Education Required
Formal Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil) or a related technical field. Equivalent work experience in the solar or construction industry may be considered.
Work Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in quality assurance and quality control within construction, renewable energy, or solar EPC industries.
- Experience in developing and implementing QA/QC procedures, managing inspections, and ensuring compliance with project specifications.
Technical Knowledge:
- In-depth understanding of construction processes, electrical systems, and renewable energy technologies.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001, UL 3741, IEC standards) and local regulations.
- Proficient in reading technical drawings, specifications, and schematics.
Certifications:
- Relevant QA/QC certifications (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Engineer or equivalent) are often required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work on construction sites, inspect installations, and conduct field audits, often in outdoor environments.
- Must be able to lift light to moderate weights and perform occasional climbing or lifting, typical for site work.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
Additional Requirements
Advanced Certifications:
- Additional certifications related to solar energy systems (e.g., NABCEP Certification) or advanced quality management qualifications are preferred.
Additional Experience:
- 3-5+ years of experience in a QA/QC role within the solar EPC sector, with involvement in large-scale solar projects.
- Experience with digital QA/QC tools and software for tracking and reporting.
Soft Skills:
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
