  • Friday, 8:30 a.m.
  • 4:30 p.m.(negotiable); weekly remote on-call hours including weeknights until 9:00 p.m.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Teaching and Learning Support Specialist is a critical member of Franciscan's Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) whose job it is to direct all functions of this fast-paced office team. Responsibilities include office management functions, welcoming and assisting office guests, answering phones and emails regarding learning technology issues, and working closely with all members of the CETL staff to ensure the efficient day to day operations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Greets walk-in guests and provides level 1 support to faculty, students, and staff as needed
  • Directs inquiries to the appropriate team member
  • Answers phone and email inquiries and support questions
  • Manages day to day activities in the CETL office and provides administrative support to the CETL team
  • Maintains tracking lists and reports for various CETL activities
  • Assists both the technologists and designers with routine functions pertaining to classes on the Canvas LMS

REQUIREMENTS

Work Experience
  • Proficiency with Office 365 Suite
  • Familiarity with Canvas LMS and related course tools

  • Demonstrated excellence and passion for supporting team members to successfully carry out day-to-day activities.
  • Demonstrated excellence and passion for supporting and communicating with online students' academic and technical needs via telephone, web conferencing, chat, and email as well as demonstrated tact and discretion
  • Demonstrated excellence and passion for supporting and communicating with online faculty members' needs via phone, web-conferencing and in-person interactions with utmost tact and discretion
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using and supporting the Canvas LMS and Office 365 products as well as willingness and ability to learn other tech tools and systems as needed
  • Demonstrated excellence and passion for organization and management of office work and meeting schedules, training schedules, checklists, project due dates and other related activities.
  • Demonstrated collegiality, professionalism, and passion to serve others and go above and beyond what is required to support the mission and help others learn and succeed
  • Demonstrated dedication to and passion for Franciscan mission
  • Desire to work and contribute to a fast-paced small team environment with an eagerness to pitch in wherever and whenever is needed

Workplace Factors
  • Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Hours flexible based on departmental and personal needs
  • Weekly remote on-call hours including weeknights until 9:00 p.m. and some Saturdays 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.
