Survey Technician Intern - Summer 2025 - Pittsburgh

Overview:

As a Survey Technician Intern at Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), you will join a growing survey team providing professional survey services on a wide variety of projects. Through this internship, you will have the opportunity to obtain hands-on experience in the survey profession.

As a Survey Technician Intern, you will:

• Assist experienced survey field staff performing work on topographic and boundary surveys, route surveys, stream surveys, and construction stakeouts.
• Gain exposure to progressive technology including robotic total stations, GPS, Unmanned Aerial Systems (drones), and LiDAR scanning.
• Learn to collect survey data and search for boundary evidence while working in a variety of terrain and outdoor conditions.
• Perform physical tasks such as setting stakes and monuments, clearing brush, and ladened hiking.
• Utilize surveying software applications to gather, retrieve and interpret important data, and perform fundamental survey computations.

Through the CEC Internship Program, you will:

• Acquire practical experience applying knowledge from college courses, learn from industry experts, and collaborate with teams across functional groups and locations;
• Develop a robust professional network through social events and interactive activities;
• Collaborate closely with a mentor in your discipline to tackle real-world challenges; and
• Participate in workshops to help foster interpersonal skills within the workplace and prepare students for success in their full-time careers.

Qualifications:

• Current enrollment in an Associates or Bachelors in Survey program, or related field of study preferred;
• Prior internship and/or survey expereince a plus;
• Possession of sufficient physical stamina to work outdoors under various field conditions;
• Occasional travel may be required; and
• Valid Driver's License.
