We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Database Administrator 4 (DBA) to join our dynamic and fast-paced team, supporting enterprise-level physical security applications. In this role, you will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing multiple databases to ensure they meet the demands of critical security infrastructure.

You will work closely with a wide array of stakeholders, including developers, IT teams, security professionals, and business leaders, to ensure database performance, integrity, and security across the applications.

Responsibilities:

As a DBA, you will be expected to thrive in an environment where collaboration, problem-solving, and adaptability are key. Database Design & Implementation:

  • Design, implement, and maintain databases that support production, development, and test environments for physical security systems, ensuring they meet service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Collaborate with developers and system architects to optimize database structures for efficient data storage and retrieval.

Performance Monitoring & Optimization:

  • Analyze database system activity and performance of physical security systems, providing recommendations for improvements to enhance efficiency and scalability.
  • Monitor and resolve complex system performance issues, optimizing queries, structures, and configurations to improve resource utilization and response times.

Backup & Recovery:

  • Develop, implement, and manage database backup procedures to ensure data integrity and minimize data loss.
  • Maintain and test disaster recovery sites to ensure compliance with Recovery Time Objective (RTO) and Recovery Point Objective (RPO).
  • Perform routine checks and audits of backup systems and recovery strategies.

Security Management:

  • Administer database security by configuring access permissions, enforcing encryption, and applying security patches in compliance with security policies and best practices.
  • Implement server and workstation patching, as well as Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) remediation.
  • Update and maintain System Security Plans, Configuration Management Documents, and Contingency Plans.

Data Integrity & Troubleshooting:

  • Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of data stored within the databases, performing integrity checks and reviews.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, particularly for the physical security system, ensuring reliability and availability.
  • Provide Tier 3 escalation support for customer calls, working closely with customers, vendors, and technical specialists to resolve complex system issues.

Upgrades & Patching:

  • Manage database software upgrades, patches, and system updates, ensuring smooth integration with the overall IT environment and minimal disruption to physical security systems.
  • Test updates and patches to confirm compatibility with existing applications and minimize downtime.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures, troubleshooting tips, and performance, including service request records and analysis.
  • Create and modify Interface Control Documents, and document system modifications and integrations.
  • Prepare and update reports on database performance, status, and changes for management review.

Collaboration & Support:

  • Partner with IT teams, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure database solutions support organizational requirements and integrate seamlessly with physical security systems.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, manufacturers, vendors, and technical specialists to address system concerns and provide solutions.
  • Train system users and support personnel on database-related procedures and best practices as needed.

Preventive Maintenance:

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance actions, including system backups, error log reviews, database size analysis, and integrity checks.
  • Analyze and modify preventive maintenance checklists to ensure alignment with system changes and best practices.

Capacity Planning & System Integration:

  • Monitor database growth, system resource usage, and data flow to ensure scalability and capacity meet the growing needs of the physical security system.
  • Create and modify system integrations and manage data flow between systems to ensure smooth operations and data consistency.

Autonomy & Problem-Solving:

  • Perform all duties with minimal direct supervision, demonstrating strong initiative and the ability to handle complex tasks independently.
  • Resolve database issues and system problems effectively while meeting organizational standards and SLAs.

Qualifications:

Clearance: Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires U.S. Citizenship, ACTIVE TS/SCI w/ Polygraph clearance is REQUIRED

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience), with 7+ years applicable experience.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator in an enterprise environment, with expertise in managing production, development, and test databases, particularly for physical security systems.
  • Proven experience in triaging and resolving system issues, analyzing performance data, and implementing updates, enhancements, and system extensions.

Technical Skills:

  • Expertise in SQL Server, Oracle, Microsoft Server 2019/2022, and virtualization platforms such as VMWare and Nutanix.
  • Strong experience with data migration, data mapping, and managing complex database environments.
  • Knowledge of Windows patching, vulnerability remediation, and Authorization to Operate (ATO) processes.
  • Advanced understanding of Windows Active Directory hierarchy and implementation.
  • Hands-on experience with database backup strategies, disaster recovery, and compliance with RTO and RPO standards.
  • Experience with server and workstation patching, including STIG remediation.
  • Proficient in the creation and maintenance of Interface Control Documents and updates to System Security Plans, Configuration Management Documents, and Contingency Plans.

Tools & Software:

  • Familiarity with Visio, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office applications for documentation, reporting, and presentations.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with database monitoring and reporting tools to assess system performance and recommend improvements.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong communication skills (oral, written, and presentation), with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams, vendors, and customers.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities, capable of resolving complex database and system issues independently.
  • Ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Experience in training system users and support personnel to ensure effective system utilization and adherence to best practices.
