Overview:
Do YOU want to have a direct impact on the manufacturing processes and customer quality satisfaction? #CAES by #Honeywell's Missile Systems, in San Jose, CA is currently seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to support the site.
Our Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) works to ensure that the materials and components received from suppliers meet company and regulatory quality standards. SQE plays a crucial role in maintaining the quality of products, particularly in our aerospace and defense businesses.
Responsibilities:
- Supplier Evaluation and Selection: Assess and approve potential suppliers based on quality standards, certifications, capabilities, and capacity.
- Quality Audits: Conduct audits at supplier sites to ensure compliance with company, industry, and regulatory standards (e.g., ISO-9001 & AS9100).
- Problem Solving and Root Cause Analysis: Analyze supplier-provided parts or material rejections (Material Review Board) and investigate those quality issues, perform root cause analysis, and work with suppliers to implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Supplier Development and Training: Collaborate with suppliers to improve their processes, provide training on quality expectations, and develop quality improvement initiatives.
- Quality Metrics Monitoring: Track and report supplier quality performance metrics (Defects Parts Per Million - DPPM, on-time delivery, supplier rating) and hold suppliers accountable for meeting standards. Send Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) to suppliers who’s performance drops below thresholds.
- Inspection and Testing: To assure quality and compliance, assist and direct Inspectors with incoming inspections of supplied materials where inspectors are unsure or have incorrectly rejected material.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records and reports on supplier quality, nonconformities, corrective actions, and ongoing quality improvements.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with engineering, manufacturing, and procurement teams to ensure suppliers meet all quality and project requirements.
Qualifications:
Minimum:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, quality management, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in quality assurance, electronics or manufacturing industry.
- This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export laws. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a “US Person” under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license).
- Ability to obtain and maintain active secret security clearance.
Preferred Skills:
- Technical Knowledge: Background in engineering or a related field, with knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and quality standards. Familiarity with quality standards (ISO 9001, AS9100) and quality tools (SPC, MSA, PPAP).
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify, analyze, and solve quality issues using tools such as Ishikawa diagrams, 5 Whys, 8D, etc.
- Attention to Detail: Ensuring precision in inspections, audits, and reports to maintain quality control.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication skills to work effectively with suppliers, colleagues, and management.
- Software Apps: Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). (preferred) SAP knowledge and AS9102 First Article Report Generation (Net-Inspect, Discus, etc.).
- Certifications (preferred): Six Sigma Green or Black Belt, AS9100/ISO-9001 internal auditor, or other relevant quality certifications.
Salary Range: $95,000 - $115,000 annually (Level II) . Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate.
