Duties & Responsibilities:Advanced understanding of protection and control fundamentals as they apply to utility substation and transmission line equipmentProficient in design of protection schemes for substation and transmission line equipment, including bus, line, capacitor and transformer design and protection schemes and associated settingsAdvanced understanding of SCADA communication designAbility to lead a team of engineers and designers in a lead engineer capacityProficient in principles of project managementBasic understanding of substation design to include equipment arrangementsCreate substation P&C design project scopes, estimates, budgets, and schedules for substation projectsAbility to read, interpret, design, and engineer P&C designs for utility stations through 500kV, including one lines, three lines, AC/DC schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, settings, relays, and SCADAAbility to perform studies and create reports for coordination, voltage drop, fault current, and insulation coordinationPerform calculations and studies using client specified software and standardsOversee the work of junior staff and mentor designers/draftersExperience checking designs for accuracy, appearance, and adherence to customer standardsCollaborate, communicate, and liaise effectively with other design disciplines, colleagues, construction contractors, consultants, materials suppliers, and clientsVisit sites, advise on P&C engineering issues, and modify design to solve issues during constructionManage budgets and project schedules
