Position Overview:

SunVest’s Asset Management team is responsible for financial management, operations and administration of the company’s owned and third-party customer solar generating portfolios.

As the Financial Asset Manager based in Chicago HQ, you will work closely with other team members to support the financial, contract and compliance management of a growing portfolio of project-financed renewable power projects. Your expertise in accounting and finance will be pivotal to SunVest’s ongoing success, contributing to our sustainable growth strategy and the development of strategic plans for managing and improving renewable energy generation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Modeling: Develop and maintain intricate financial models to assess project economics, cost of capital, cash flows, debt financing, and other critical metrics.
  • Compliance Management: Develop and maintain contract and compliance management tools to ensure that financing, power purchase agreements (PPA), renewable energy credit (REC) supply contracts and market/regulatory obligations are met on a timely basis and rights are enforced.
  • Offtake and Market Analysis: Analyze performance under the portfolio’s PPA and REC supply agreements ensuring that production and pricing variances to plan are understood and communicated.
  • Cross-Company Collaboration: Collaborate with various departments, including Development, Project Finance, Operations, and Technical Asset Managers.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with external offtakers, investors, financial experts, auditors, tax preparers, legal teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Financial Statement Ownership: Prepare monthly financial statements, perform financial analysis, develop annual budgets, send PPA invoices, pay vendors, provide analysis of production and financial actuals to budget.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in financial asset management; experience within the renewable energy sector or a related field a plus, but not required
  • A proven ability to thrive in a high-performance, growth business; the ideal candidate should be flexible and able to pivot strategies as needed to meet project and organizational goals
  • Demonstrated excellent time management skills, with the capacity to manage multiple tasks and adhere to strict deadlines; we appreciate candidates who can adapt to changing priorities without compromising the quality of their work
  • A deep passion for the renewable energy sector and a principled approach to fostering sustainable energy solutions
  • Comfortable with taking a collaborative approach to making suggestions that can improve existing processes; we value team members who are proactive in identifying opportunities for improvement and are eager to work with others to implement positive changes

The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the geographic differential associated with the location where the position may be filled. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $100-170K.
